Start with a task, not a free sign
For the first conversation in the polyclinic you need one level, for the exam - another. Write down three situations where the language is in the way right now, and the time that you will actually spend. A course with an inappropriate schedule or language of explanation can be useless, even if it costs zero.
Before registering, clarify the conditions of admission: nationality, age, residence status, work or study, city of residence. A free project for a certain group is not a universal right of any foreigner. Separately ask what is free: classes, materials, exam or only registration.
NAVOICA: self-study online
On the public platform NAVOICA, free open courses are available, including Polish for Foreigners materials created in NCBR projects. The official description of the NCBR lists professional areas: transport and logistics, entrepreneurship, trade and services. Choose a description appropriate to your level and tasks.
Create an account on navoica.pl, find a course in the catalogue and see if there is a recruitment. The conditions and availability of a specific session are displayed in the card. The certificate of completion of the online course does not replace the state language certification for the migration procedure.
NAWA: check the target group
Program Kursy Języka Polskiego NAWA provides free face-to-face and distance options. It is primarily aimed at students and lecturers of foreign universities. This is a valuable opportunity for a suitable participant, but not a promise of a year-round free place for any incoming worker.
On the NAWA page, select a course option, read the criteria and the current recruitment. Prepare documents of study or work, if they are required. For the face-to-face option, check that accommodation and meals are included in your program and not in a similar last year's announcement.
Employment services and local projects
Check the official website of your powiatowy urząd pracy and sections for foreigners. An example of an active announcement for 2026 is the publication of PUP Poznań about “Most do Integracji – Silniejsi Razem” for adult foreigners legally residing in Poland. It describes the purpose and sponsors of the project; the availability of space and timing are determined by the current recruitment.
If you are in another city, use this as an example of the type of program, not as a promise of local availability. Write to your PUP specifically: if there is a Polish course, if registration is required and what statuses are allowed. Prepare a residence document and employment information for the assessment, but do not register as unemployed on the basis of guesswork.

- The type of certificate to be issued.
- Contact the organizer, published on the official page.
How to get benefit already this week
Choose one course and set a short, continuous class time. After the lesson, compose two sentences for your task and speak them out loud. In the next lesson, go back to what you could not say. Do not postpone your homework until you get the certificate: a safe question in the store or reception helps to detect gaps that the test does not show.
